On yer bike.

So Duncan's gone away and I have to do the birdbangers morning and night. So following his lead I decided to do it on my trusty (well, rusty) stead. Always one for multitasking it also allows me to train for any biking I might do for the Otago Rail Trail. It has certainly taught me to look ahead for the best path through the corrugations, and how to get down to low gear for the thick grass bits. Its about 1.5km - 2 at the most, morning and night. But today I got on my bike and felt the dreaded sore inner bum cheeks. Just excuse me now while I go and hunt out my padded shorts!

Birthday Treat

Today I went and spent my birthday voucher given to me by my walking pals on a massage and a facial (and eyebrows etc) We started with the massage. I had to change into a disposable g string. "Put the large bit at the front" Sophie instructed. Large bit? Honey, I'm much bigger than that down there!!
"This is a Swedish massage, so its not all airy fairy, but just let me know if I am pushing too deep" was how Sophie began. It was a back, neck and shoulders massage. I found it very energetic. The feeling when she stopped was heaven, and she certainly has released some knots and tension - very relaxing later in the day.
Then after the eyebrow shape and eyelash tint we began on the facial. Layer after layer was put on, some were taken off, some were steamed off and some just plain soaked in to my thirtsty skin.
While the steamer was on she gave me a hand and arm massage, and while the oils were soaking in she gave me a foot massage.
So I'm feeling very pampered. My skin feels silky to touch. I'm not sure it looks too much better from the wrinkle point of view. Maybe I should step back from the mirror.
A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon - it was just under 3 hours!!

We love Ohiwa!

This is a picture of the bathing suit I wore! I looked like this only with dark hair.
Had a lovely Waitangi weekend - its really great to have Tuesday as my nonteaching day this year when there are lots of Monday holidays. The weather was fine but cloudy - perfect for two nine holes of golf and a long walk/run. We had Jill and David next door for drinks and chats and croquet. The surf was warm and powerful, and I felt strong enough to have 3 long sessions without feeling unsafe.

It was a pretty full camping ground but mainly couples.

I won the scrabble by 1point

Growing Old Gracefully

Jill and Carla enjoying a chat
Here I am being very serious during my speech. "And what should I do - grow old gracefully or disgracefully?"

"Disgracefully" say Sandy and Jude, my golfing mates.

"Gracefully" Jill feels duty bound to say.

Waiting for the action to start. The Marina was an excellent venue, with excellent staff and excellent food.

Murray is another '52 baby. He's planning a week long event. But I was very happy with my evening. Perhaps I should warn him - 6 hour event, 55 persons, 4 non drinkers, 53 bottles of wine. Then heaps of beer and a few spirits. I guess the dancing did get a bit wild at the end there!

Theo gets into the Festive Spirit

There's nothing like a cherry red (or is that cheery red) suit with pictures of Rudolph on it to hearald the start of the festive season. Those eyes are looking like they'll be brown now, so don't you make my brown eyes blue!

A lovely spin bowlers grip demonstrated here. Must be a left hander like his father.

Looking bonny at 9lb 6oz

Ho, ho ho, Merry Christmas!

Hey look Dad, we've got matching noses!

Simon's on the early morning shift - its a great time to have a good photo session

Ok Gran that's enough. I have to get back to sleep now.

A Feast of Photos

Bonding time with Dad
This is the very attentive face you get when you put Jackie on the other side of the computer. Now I think that is close to a smile - a genuine smile. Its a happy little face!

He was so well behaved for the whole 30mins of the photo session!

A few little cooing noises at this stage.

Glazed expression - but then Jackie is expressing milk in the next chair.

Happy to focus on Dad as well.

What's that loud noise coming out of the computer? Oh Just Gran laughing at something.

Cutest baby on the block!

There's my mum peeking over the computer - I'll give her a smile

OK, That's enough Gran
