Last days in BA

The weather is fine when we start out on our hop on/hop off tour - or just stay on mainly in our case. Robert from Australia comes with us. While we are waiting for the bus there was a parade of Navy veterans.

Argentinians love a good parade.
What we found is that there are a lot of parks with statues, and a lot of roads closed in on either side by modern high-rise buildings
La Boca  is a working class area of mixed class heritage who are passionate about soccer. Their team won against the River Plate team in the annual grudge match this year.

From there the bus took us on to the Port area on the Rio de La Plata - the widest river in the world at 220km at its widest part

Houses line the river.

The board walk along the port area is very colourful

The business centre of BA, Puerto Madero

A bit of money has been spent here.

Modern buildings counterpoint older statues. All the parks are watered with recycled sewerage.

The river is very brown due to the low, slow gradient through the flat plains. This is the Fishermen's club.

You can see we had headphones - and they probably told us who this guy was!

The other soccer stadium - River Plate

The university buildings
Back to our hotel where we go to the roof-top bar to have a final drink with our travel mates. You can see the French influence in these old buildings It was the intention of the founding fathers to make BA the "Paris of the Americas"
It was very cold up there, so we didn't stay long

Another view from the roof-top bar.
Apart from Rob all the others are carrying on with another leg of the tour. Most are getting pretty tired, and scratching for clean clothes, so even though ours has been a short trip, its been a great trip.
