Heading home from Nelson (a belated post)

Another lovely day and we get our packing done and head for Picton - with a short stop for lunch.Food servings come soooo big - and I don't feel to good in the tummy after that.
Waterfront at Picton

Looking back towards Picton

Picture Perfect weather and some yachts certainly had the cameras snapping

Straight through the channel and on to Wellington
We have a good seat on the ferry which is very full. The lady next to me is a piano teacher from Napier - and I ask her about getting back to playing the piano. Do I play pieces I learned most recently (mainly grade 6 stuff)  or learn some easy stuff and work up. She suggested I start with scales!!
Lighthouses as we pass through the channel

We stayed in a hotel in the centre of Wellington. I was not feeling very well but managed a bun and  some soup for tea. Next day we picked up Heather and headed off to the wineries in Martinborough. we enjoyed a lunch al fresco at Murdoch James.

We stayed the night in Featherstone - sadly none of the restaurants/cafes were open and we ended up going to an Indian at the RSA I didn't feel like much to eat at all - and my butter chicken was far too hot - but the saving grace that the wine was $6 per glass - but when we paid the bill we were charged $6 for the whole bottle!
I was pretty crook all night, but we got Heather off on her train to Wellington early next morning and headed off on another lovely day through the Wairarapa. It was Anzac Day and we passed by the Anzac Memorial Bridge
While the bridge is very pretty it was the personal tributes which really struck a chord. This one was to a great uncle.

and this one was decorated and left by a small girl (aged 8) It begins "Even though I didn't know you I think it is important to remember...."
