Heading North to Norfolk. Saturday 5th August 2017

We had great views heading from Gisborne to Auckland - snow caps of Ruapehu et al, and then Mt Taranaki. All very clear. Then the panorama of the Rotorua Lake District, the neat rectangles of kiwifruit around Te Puke and even the Manakau Harbour had a clean turquoise look about it!
I confess I was horrified when Duncan informed me couldn't go to the Koru Club for lunch (flying Norfolk Air not Air NZ). After lunch I stretched out in one of the seating areas and took a nap.
The flight was fine - we got cheese and crackers and wine and a muffin. It took 90mins. But Customs was horrific and took us about an hour to get through. We were in the back of the plane with a couple of Golden Oldies Rugby teams. They had been in the bar before we left and we had expected trouble - but they all dozed off during their flight which meant their customs forms weren't very well filled out.

Our first taste of the Norfolk language. The red sign says don't take pictures.
The lady from Jacaranda Park  was a bit exasperated that we took so long; we picked up our rental car and followed her home. We rushed out and at least got breakfast things as the supermarket was closed by this time.
We got our boomerang bag instead of plastic bags.
We went down to "Bowlo" , the local bowling club bistro and had a very average meal with very average Aussie wine. "Do you want ice in that?"????
No street lights in Norfolk. Very dark, very quiet at night.
